Project Overview
Digital skills, mentorship, and pathways for young Somali women
The Somali Women in Tech Initiative is SYV’s program for increasing young women’s participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It responds to the gender gap in technology by creating accessible pathways for women to learn practical digital skills, receive mentorship, and pursue careers in the sector.
Through coding bootcamps, information-technology workshops, and mentorship, participants strengthen both technical ability and professional confidence. The initiative supports young women who want to enter the technology workforce as well as those seeking to develop independent digital projects.
Somali Women in Tech reflects SYV’s broader commitment to youth and women’s empowerment. It combines skills development with opportunity, helping ensure that young women can participate meaningfully in Somalia’s growing digital economy.
